London Motorexpo, the UK’s largest free-to-attend motoring event, got underway this week and is set to break all records this year.
Returning for one week only between June 10 and 16 in the exclusive setting of London’s bustling business district Canary Wharf, Motorexpo’s revolutionary show format is a real fan favourite, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors annually. With more brands exhibiting this year than ever before, visitor numbers are expected to exceed the record 460,000 who attended last year’s event.
One of the reasons Motorexpo remains so popular with visitors is because it remains very much a hands-on interactive event, with visitors encouraged to touch and experience the cars without the barriers you will traditionally encounter at car shows the world over.
If you want an even more closer look at the cars, Motorexpo offers visitors the opportunity to test drive many of the vehicles on show on public roads surrounding Canary Wharf with the return of the Motorexpo DriveME feature. No additional car insurance is needed for this but visitors are reminded to bring along their driver’s license.
The potential highlights of this year’s show will undoubtedly be the number of UK motoring event debuts taking place. There will be first glimpses of the Lotus Exige, 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, BMW’s fully-electric i3 concept coupé, the new Infiniti Q50 and the Skoda Superb in addition to the sporty Jaguar F-TYPE convertible.
Multitude of manufacturers
Away from those exclusives, brands who will be exhibiting include Mercedes, Maserati, Porsche, McLaren, Ferrari, Bentley, Aston Martin, BMW, Lamborghini, Land Rover, Lexus, Volvo, Chrysler, Kia SEAT, and many more. Smaller manufacturers will also be displaying their niche designs at the show, including British manufacturer Lightning, showing off the latest version of its GT electric supercar
In truth the only notable omissions appear to be Ford, Toyota, Honda and Nissan.
CEO of Motorexpo, Graeme Carver, said, ‘Motorexpo grows in stature every year, demonstrated in 2013 with a record number of manufacturers and display vehicles. We’ve made the show even more interactive so that visitors will be able to get up close to, and in many cases drive some of the best cars currently available in the UK.
‘That we are hosting so many UK motoring event vehicle debuts and two high profile industry events underlines the growing status of Motorexpo.’
Bringing together a great combination of the supercar, the off-road and the eco-drivers, Motorexpo London 2014 truly is an event not to miss for any car enthusiast.
