How much would it cost to insure the Millennium Falcon?

Getting car insurance for a young driver can be eye-wateringly high but spare a thought for the rogue smuggler who commands a ship that made the Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs.

It’s estimated, in the real world, the annual premium on the Millenium Falcon would cost £198,709.02. As with car insurance, there are several factors that cause the premium to be so high. According to Admiral, the insurance company to provide the quote, the high price is down to one of the named drivers being a Wookie. The insurer warned that it was unable to offer breakdown cover for a ship in a galaxy far far away.

A spokesperson for Admiral told MailOnline: ‘They would need to consider the age of the vehicle, the fact the main driver is a smuggler and he probably has more than one driving conviction – we heard that his vehicle made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs.’

Keeping on the Star Wars theme, back in 2013, a petition was sent to The White House demanding to build a Death Star. More than 34,000 people had signed the petition, stating that it would create jobs and strengthen defence. As with the UK Government, The White House is obliged to respond to petitions over a certain number of signatures, and the response is priceless.

Unsurprisingly, a senior US government official said the Obama administration “does not support blowing up planets”. Brilliant response!

We wonder if these people had properly thought through the building of a planet destroyer? The cost firstly being the first issue. According to Centives, on Steel alone, it would cost $852,000,000,000,000,000. And insurance would also be another issue to be considered. Is it a Vehicle? Could it be classed as a residence? Is it an office? Would they need liability insurance? There seem to be a lot (painful) questions for anyone wanting to take on this mammoth task, let alone the bank balance to match.
