Friday Five: Most Outrageous Cars of 2012

Looking back at the the awesome cars of 2012, there are also a handful of absolutely ridiculous cars that belong to the year of 2012. Here we’re going to look at the Top 5 of these outrageous cars!

5. Lamborghini Perdigon Concept

In fifth position, we have the Lamborghini Perdigon Concept. Sticking to usual Lambo form, the Perdigón concept is modelled after the F117 Nighthawk, the Lockheed stealth ground-attack aircraft, and the F22 Raptor. We almost gave that front intake a spot on the list entirely to itself.

4. Mercedes-Benz Energ-G Force

Coming in at fourth place, is the Mercedes-Benz Ener-G Force. There were actually a large amount of crazy SUV concepts that popped up at shows this year, but the Ener-G Force off-roader is easily at the top of the list. The result of a future police vehicle competition, the Ener-G runs on recycled water, with a range of about 500 miles. Peace out gas guzzling SUVs.

3. McLaren X-1

Just outside the Top 2, is the McLaren X-1. The X-1 was possibly the most head-shaking, eye-bulging, and intriguing releases of 2012. Designed by 34-year-old Hong Yeo, who came right out of of school at the World College of Art in London, the X-1 was a commissioned one-of-one supercar that shows a 100 percent unique use of the MP4-12C chassis.

2. BMW i8 Spyder Concept

As runner up, we have the very beautiful BMW i8 Spyder. The i8 hybrid is an example of design innovation at its best. The gorgeous BMW maintains stylish appeal, while breaking into a mainstream hybrid supercar market, with a TwinPower turbo engine that will still deliver a combined 87 mpg.

1. McLaren P1

The winner, The McLaren P1 is set to be the biggest debut of the year in 2013. Ready to succeed, but certainly not follow or replace, the F1, the P1 has extremely flowing, radical design, featuring a giant wing, bulging honeycomb taillights, and those signature McLaren tick eyes. Though the final design has yet to be released, the above picture is about as close to the real deal as a concept can get. Initial numbers were £960,000 and 960 horsepower. When looking at all of these cars, you have to expect a high priced motor insurance!
