It has been confirmed that Jaguar will be showcasing its new F-Type sports car in at the Paris Motor Show 2012. This is being held at the end of September.
We first heard about this car last year at the Frankfurt Motor show although then it appeared as the Jaguar C-X16 Concept. It has also appeared throughout the year at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The car has also been through 500,000 virtual testing parameters.
This testing has apparently taken 10 million CPU hours of processing which has created 300 TB of data. As a result this means that the engineers can focus on the sports car performance as the time to production can now be significantly shortened.
The F-Type will be powered by three supercharged petrol engines: 340hp and 380hp versions of a 3L V6 and there will also a version of the 500hp V8 which is already in some of the R variants.
It will also be available in convertible and coupé and it is expected that the convertible will be the one showcased in Paris.
The global brand director, Adrian Hallmark has said, “The unveiling of the F-Type in Paris will be a truly significant day in Jaguars history as it will mark the company’s return to the sports car market, a market it originally helped to create.
The vehicles line director, Ian Hoban added, “When you are working on a Jaguar sports car the expectations of the world are huge. We’re really pleased with how the attributes have translated from the virtual into the physical world.
“Now we’re redefining and adding those last few percentages points – that true element of honing which the Jaguar test team are delivering – which will turn a great sports car into an exceptional one.”
We are sure that the cost of motor insurance to those who will be owning one of these will be a tiny stone in a pond as they will probably not be feeling the pinch of the recession!
