Proton Car Insurance

Proton is the Malaysian national car maker which was founded in 1983 by the direction of the former Prime Minister, Tun Mahathir Mohamad. Protons first model, the Proton Saga, began production in September of 1985 and was based on technology and parts from Mitsubishi Motors.

To begin with components of the car were all manufactured by Mitsubishi but gradually local parts were being used. The 100,000th Proton Saga was produced in 1989, marking a great triumph for Proton. The crest of Malaysia's coat of arms was originally used as the car's logo until the end of the 1990's when it was replaced by the stylised tiger head.

The Proton Wira was introduced in 1993 which was based on the Mitsubishi Lancer/Colt and more than 220,000 units were sold between 1996 and 1998. In 1995 the Proton Perdana was produced and was based on the Mitsubishi Galant/Eterna and was intended for the higher end of the market.
