Citroen Car Insurance

The French car manufacturer Citroen was founded in 1919 by Andre Citroen – hence the name. Since 1976 Citroen has been a part of Peugeot and its headquarters are in Paris. The family name Citroen originates from one of his grandfathers who was a citrus seller in Amsterdam and therefore the old fashioned nickname for the Citroen cars was Citron, meaning lemon. Unfortunately it didn't translate very well because lemon in English slang means an unreliable problematic car.

Originally Citroen was a mass-market manufacturer making very simple designs but it 1934 they shocked the world with the innovative Traction Avant, the world's first mass-production front wheel drive car.

Citroen is a major competitor in the World Rally Championship and has won the constructor title for three years straight before in 2003, 2004 and 2005.
